J.T. Townsend, Paying It Forward

J.T. Townsend, former athlete at the Episcopal School who in 2004 suffered a catastrophic paralyzing injury playing football passed away recently. He was an inspiration to all those he touched through his life and foundation which raises money to provide medical equipment and assistance to others with disabilities in Northeast Florida. “When you think back to everybody that came out to help you, you want to give back and help them with whatever they need,” he told the Times-Union in 2011. He went on to establish a foundation to help others, graduated from Episcopal as well as the University of North Florida. He excelled with a engaging spirit as he won the hearts of many with his infectious smile and positive attitude. He will be missed by many but the outstanding impact of his life contributions will leave a lasting legacy.
