Heat, Hydration & Performance

Spring Football practice has begun, make sure you are properly hydrated by pre-hydrating every day. That can be done with a simple concept shared by Mike Ryan, Head Athletic Trainer with the Jacksonville Jaguars, 50 % water and 50% of a sports beverage like Gatorade. Drink before, during and after activity. Most think they are drinking enough but try this simple experiment by using an 8 oz. Cup and see how many gulps or swallows it takes to down the whole cup. Drink fluids every 20 minutes and take your time. Weigh yourself before and after practice and drink 20 oz. of fluid to replace every pound you lose.
